Pokeogue: I Tried to Be a Pokemon Master, But Permadeath Had Other Plans

I thought I was a Pokemon master. I’ve beaten the Elite Four, caught legendaries, and bred perfect IVs. Then I played Pokeogue , and I realized I know nothing.

My Journey of Humiliation
My first run started promisingly. I caught a Bulbasaur, breezed through the first few encounters, and thought, «This is easy!» Then I ran into a Geodude with Rock Throw. One critical hit later, my Bulbasaur was gone. Permadeath is brutal.

Pokerogue Dex : My New Bible
After a few more spectacular failures, I wised up and started using Pokerogue Dex. Turns out, knowing a Pokemon’s weaknesses before you fight it is actually helpful. Who knew?

Tips from a (Frequent) Loser

• Don’t get attached: Your Pokemon will die.
• Respect the type chart: Seriously, it matters.
• Blame the RNG: It’s never your fault.

Pokeogue is a humbling experience. But it’s also incredibly addictive. I’m going back for another run. Wish me luck (I’ll need it).
